Rob's Top 5 Football Matches

Not football on the telly, but real football of course.

Barrow vs Bristol Rovers FA Cup - the one where the Barrow player hit the Rovers player and broke his jaw, to much condemnation on Match of the Day. It was a horrible day, but Rovers dug out a lead only for Barrow to fight back strongly towards the end and be unlucky not to get a draw out of it. I was sat just behind the Rovers bench and said some very rude things to their players and managers. But that's football :)

Barrow vs Stalybridge Celtic - the play off final at Burton, where the Barrow fans took over the ground and shouted for two hours solid. Barrow won by a single goal, and we were into the Blue Square Premier for the first time in years. Shoes off if you love Barrow!

Barrow vs Middlesbrough - FA Cup 2008/09 at the Riverside. 7,000 Barrow fans went, and OK we lost, and OK, we were outplayed, but it was a great day out. Loads of songs, we took our shoes off, we had a great day out.

Derby County vs Manchester United - I blagged this on a corporate jolly, because it was on my birthday and the recruitment company I was using had a box at Derby. So we had a lovely lunch and I got a bit tipsy and United won convincingly. 4 - 0 I think.

Leeds United vs AC Milan Champions League 2001 - I hate myself for including this, but it was a good game with real drama. Raining in sheets, and that last minute goal when the keeper fumbled it. Happy days, and good company, even if it was Leeds.

Other grounds I have been to over the years - Hillsborough, Guiseley, Harrogate Town, Emley Town (both the old and the new), Old Trafford, Farsely Celtic, St James Park, Blackpool (almost), Oldham Athletic, Bradford City, Dalton United, Thackley FC
